End of NaNoWriMo

As National Novel Writing Month comes to a close, I couldn’t be more relieved. November has been a whirlwind of college applications and essays, holiday preparations, and quarantining. Since I didn’t start writing early this year, I’m beyond surprised to find that I’m currently at 46,455 words and ahead of schedule! Can’t wait to cross the finish line.

The main reason as to why I’m writing a blog post about NaNoWriMo is because every year, I learn something new about myself. In tenth grade, which was my first year doing it, I discovered that I really and truly could write a novel! This was an exciting realization and it pushed me to continue writing drafts. In eleventh grade, I learned that I can make time for the things that matter the most to me. This year, I came to the conclusion that NaNoWriMo is really just about having fun! There’ll be time for editing and revising later, but during the challenge, simply writing the draft is a wild and enjoyable ride.

For those of you participating:

Have fun with these last few days! Nothing in this first draft has to be perfect… which means you can experiment how you want!
