Second Anniversary!

I was about to sit down and get to work on a blog post for Wednesday– because I have some extra time on my hands being at the beach this week (which I am LOVING by the way) — when WordPress notified me that today is the second anniversary of writing on PROSED! It absolutely blew my mind. Granted, there have been several long hiatuses of inactivity and such, but to be fair, college had a tremendous impact on my writing life. Still, I am blessed that I’m able to celebrate and honor the past couple years.

So, let’s take a trip down memory lane, shall we? I’ll be highlighting a few of my favorite posts and subsequent quotes from them, along with a link if you’d like to check it out.

The first thing I ever wrote for PROSED was: Introduction.

“I am also creating this blog to inspire myself, because as our society grows darker and crueler with each passing day, I want to be able to look back and say: I did something positive in the world today. I contributed my voice, my thoughts, my motivating words for a fellow writer, artist, friend, or family member.”

Writing & Running: the beginning of my writer’s advice column, which received much love on Instagram.

“My main point: when the going gets rough, whether we’re talking about difficult terrain on a course or simply a lack of motivation with finishing chapters, you need to be able to break that barrier of “I can’t”.

Because in the end: you CAN.”

The Reading Corner: the original set of book reviews I posted about!

“When I first picked this book up, I was intimidated by the flowery, old English that spanned almost 400 pages, yet just by the first line, I was enthralled: ‘It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.’ “

Starless Skies and Broken Dreams Quote: my impending senior project! (the one that is now published :))

” ‘Bravery is a result of standing up and doing the right thing, not the other way around,’ Russell says, his tone light and hopeful. ‘Do what you know in your heart to be right, and then worry about being courageous.’ “

An assortment of additional oldies but goodies include: Jane Austen Quotes with a Twist, Restore, Abracadabra, and Lord’s Prayer. While I may be irregular with my current posting, these are some lovely posts that you might enjoy!

Lastly, THANK YOU to all of you out there who are reading and supporting my work. Your engagement with the website makes this all worth it. As I mention in the opening blurb on PROSED, I intended this to be a place for inspiring, motivating, and encouraging enthusiasm in young writers, artists, and readers alike. And as you go forward this week, just know that I’m rooting for you.

Sincerely,

Sophia
